July 20, 2024 | Chingona Community: Third Annual Youth Day
On July 20, 2024, the Chingona Community held its third annual Youth Day in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club in Uptown Whittier. We extend a huge thank you to Director Oscar Hernandez for supporting our tradition of giving back to the youth.
This year’s event featured 25 exhibitor booths offering valuable resources on job placement, workforce development, trade schools, and colleges. The booths included representatives from Cerritos College, LA Trade Tech, and scholarship opportunities provided by the ELLA Foundation. Financial institutions like Chase Bank, along with utilities such as SoCalGas, SCE, and San Gabriel Valley Water, were present to network with attendees.
A special thanks to Einstein and Noah Corporation for donating bagels for breakfast and to the first 100 attendees who received gift bags.
The day also included four panel breakout sessions: a Coaches Corner with El Rancho High School and St. Paul High School, a STEM Panel, a Career Exploration Panel featuring industry leaders like Jamila Daniel of Starz and Connie Quiñones, Supervising Judge at Compton Courthouse, and a Music Panel with entertainment figures like Bel Hernandez of Latin Heat Magazine, Karina Castillo of Courtyard Entertainment, and Lizza Monet Morales of TECLA. Additionally, a Mock Interview Session and a surprise visit from inspirational youth comedian Ernie G rounded out the event.
It was a day full of inspiration, learning, and community support. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this Youth Day a success!

Chingona Community: Foxen Wine Turnaround Event
May 5, 2024 | Chingona Community: Foxen Wine Turnaround Event
On May 5, 2024, the Chingona Community had the pleasure of experiencing Santa Ynez for the very first time during our Foxen Wine Turnaround event. Santa Ynez’s beauty and charm left us in awe, and we were thrilled to explore this stunning region. As part of the Santa Ynez Business Chamber, we seek to create opportunities for our women in areas such as career development, wine, networking, philanthropy, and more.
Not only did we enjoy our time up north, but we also successfully raised funds for our Chingona Community Scholarship program, further supporting the education of deserving young women.
A heartfelt thank you to the Foxen staff—or should we say, the Foxen Family—for their warm hospitality. Special thanks to Riley and the entire team for allowing us to be part of your passion. It was an unforgettable experience, and we look forward to future collaborations.

On April 23, 2024, the Chingona Community partnered with Cal State Long Beach to host an inspiring event in support of their Latinx Resource Center. The theme of the event was to empower Latina students, and we were honored to contribute to this vital mission. The Latinx Resource Center is part of the Office of Multicultural Affairs at Cal State Long Beach, working to uplift and support Latinx students on their educational journeys.
We proudly presented a panel featuring three incredible Latina leaders: Evelia Carmona from Southern California Edison, Melissa Gutierrez from Optum Healthcare, and Christina Ousley from COOP Financial. Each of these women shared their personal experiences related to career growth and education, offering valuable insights to the students in attendance.
It was a privilege to be part of this event, which reinforced our commitment to empowering the next generation of Latina leaders. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Cal State Long Beach and supporting their efforts to uplift the Latinx community.

On April 11, 2024, the Chingona Community hosted a successful Scholarship Fundraiser at Rock & Brews in Buena Park. The event, sponsored by 93.5 FM Radio, was filled with excitement and community spirit. We were honored to have our female friends from the Vintage Ladies Car Club join us, adding a special touch of classic flair to the evening.
Hosted by Mike Talavera, the event helped us raise substantial funds to support our Chingona Community Scholarship program. Now in its third year, the scholarship has raised close to $10,000, benefiting deserving female college students and empowering them to pursue their academic dreams.
We are deeply grateful to all our sponsors, supporters, and community members who made this event a success. Together, we are helping to build a brighter future for the next generation of Chingonas.

On March 7, 2024, our founder Rozalyn Corona had the honor of being the keynote speaker at the inaugural California Water Association (CWA) Women’s Leadership Conference. This event marked a significant milestone for women in leadership within the water industry.
Rozalyn’s keynote focused on the power of mindset, the importance of speaking up, and how journaling can help drive personal and professional growth. Her message resonated deeply with the attendees, inspiring them to take action and uplift one another.
We were grateful to have the support of Jeanette Diaz from San Gabriel Valley Water Company, who stood with us during this impactful moment for our community.
This opportunity allowed us to further engage women leaders and emphasize the value of unity, empowerment, and taking charge of our journeys.
